WHERE IN THE WORLD DID ISAAC HESS GO?

ISAAC HESS was born in Clearfield Co. PA in 1811. He married MARY HANY (Haney) and they had 14 children. About 1870 according to Comm. Biog. Record Central Pa. (Beers 1898) Isaac went west. He appears to have gone without Mary. I am unsure if any children went with him. Did he go to join his brother? How far westward is west?
