When you return to researching your family, the most important thing to do is to prove each generation with primary records....that is the ONLY way you can know who your family members are. You can't accept as truth ANYTHING found on the internet, unless it is accompanied by the proof.....nothing is 'true' unless you can prove it to be. My own genealogical guru gave me the best advice any genealogist can get "Never believe anything unless you have the proof in your own hand." If you follow her advice, you'll never go wrong.
