Do I take it that father, Charles, and son, Eli Holman were both in Chester Co in the early 1800s, and you're trying to find Charles parentage, etc? It's hard to tell from your query. If you would include you documentation for Charles and Eli, placing them in Chester, it would be a big help in knowing where to look. How about Charles' wife's name? Anything you have could be helpful....in genealogy, more is always better.
In general, I think you'll find the name spelled Holman in Chester Co....no HOleman in the index of THE HISTORY OF CHESTER CO, while there are several spelled Holman....

This is the only set of adm papers (or will) for a Holman, in Chester or any of the surrounding counties....there is nothing for Holeman.

HOLMAN, CHARLES.
November 19, 1748.
If you want to get a set of these papers, visit the Chester Co Archives and Records site for how to do it. You never know what you'll find in adm. papers. .
Adm. to Eleanor Holman.
