Brenda, another cousin of mine is also working on family history and a descended from Mary Ann asked me the following:

How sure are we that the Michael McGuire that got Sarah Ann Byrne pregnant is Michael Joseph McGuire? I assume that it is he because he was 16 and she was 17. His older brother married her older sister. So they saw one another and they lived near one another, and although in those days they had responsibilities as adults they were still unworldly hormonal kids. However, there was another Michael McGuire son of Barnabas McGuire that lived in Huntington, which is not that far from Loretto, but he was older and married.

I knew about the Souvenir of Loretto but I did not know about the other book Catholic Trails West you referenced. I really appreciate your sharing your knowledge with me.
