Apparently you DO have slightly more to go on.... if you know he is, indeed, your third great, you also have his descendents. Following those names might be helpful in and of themselves...for example, the children may have at one time (esp if Levi was "stationed" away from the family) living with relatives. I have scoured the History of Butler County (on-line) and have found scores of Thompsons, but no Levi listed. Why have you listed his birth as Butler County? How do you know, actually, the name of his wife? Were they married in Indiana? Where (state) were the children born? What was the company with which he served? Have you tried the up-graded Familysearch organization.... their records are especially helpful for folks who lived, died, or married in Ohio! Good luck.... Elaine
