Family of John Kean and Nancy Drane
Posted by: William Muller (ID *****3372) Date: July 01, 2011 at 18:20:20
  of 1335

Elizabeth Burtner Kean was born in Butler Co., PA (or in Louisiana). She was the daughter of Nancy
Drane and John Kean. Nancy was born in Tarentum, Allegheny Co., PA in 1883 and died in Butler, Butler Co., PA. Nancy was the daughter of Kinsey Drane and Elizabeth Burtner, and the granddaughter of Alexander NEGLEY.

John Kean is something of a mystery. He was born in IRELAND in 1824 and died in Louisiana (or in Butler Co., PA) in 1854. In the 1850 census I n Louisiana, John is listed as a Merchant.

John Kean and Nancy Drane had two daughters: Sarah Grant Kean (1850-abt 1900) and Elizabeth Burtner Kean (1851--??). Sarah Grant Kean married a German immigrant, Emanuel Krause and had 9 children.

Elizabeth Grant Kean married twice, first to Andrew Anderson and, second, to Robert Irwin. With Andrew Anderson, she had one son, Harry Anderson (1870--??). With Robert Irwin, she had three sons: John (1881--??), George (1882--??), and Andrew Ebensberger Irwin (1885-1967). They were all born in PA and Andrew Ebensberger Irwin died in Allegheny Co. PA.

QUESTION: Who were the parents of John Kean in Ireland? When and where did he die?

QUESTION: Who was Andrew Anderson, the first husband of Elizabeth Grant Kean? When and where was he born? Who where his parents? Did he die or did he and Elizabeth divorce? When and where did he die? What happened to his son, Harry Anderson?

QUESTION: Who was Robert Irwin, the second husband of Elizabeth Grant Kean? When and where was he born? Who where his parents? When and where did he die?

QUESTION: What happened to the sons of Elizabeth Grant Kean and Robert Irwin? All we know about the first two is their name and birth year. Who did they marry (if they did), where did they live and when did they die?

The third son, Andrew Ebensberger Irwin married someone by the name of Clara and had a son, Wallace, and a grandson, James.

Below is a genealogy report and sources of what I have on the family. Willing to share information. This is part of a project to trace the descendants of Alexander NEGLEY (1734-1809) of Pittsburgh, PA.

Willing to share information.
