Richard is mentioned in Lawrence Growden's will of 1770. as "my clerk". Growden left money to Richd and MArgery and their 4 ch.
Sarah Growden (Lawrence's widow) in her will of 1781. refers to Richard Gibbs as her nephew and exr. along with nephew Wm. Biles and Edward Pennington of Phila.
she also includes Samuel, Mary, Sarah, Betzey, Hannah and Margery Gibbs.
I am seeking anyone with info relating to this Gibbs family and all allied families of Growden, Vandegrift, Rodman, McIlvaine, Rue, DeNormandie, Hill, Hicks, Willett, Godly, Janney, Yeardley, Pankins, Kidd and others of Bucks Co.
Richard Gibbs s the sheriff in 1771 and a school teacher in 1746 and 1754 for Bensalem.
He was from England not Burlington New Jersey. he seems to have been lumped into the old Gibbs family of Burlington however he arrived in 1742? and went to work in Bucks Co. His brother John Gibbs of London is known. They were educated men of England. Richard was a patriot during the rev.
