Thanks Jane for the prompt response - and thank you for offering to do all those look ups in your book for us "out of towners".
I'll bet I can now connect those DOANS that you have posted.
So, if you have room for one more query from me. .....This one concerns my maternal grandfather's family from New Brunswick Canada - HUMPHREY.
WILLIAM HUMPHREY was born Abt. 1760 in _______(PHILADELPHIA, PA?), USA, and
died in NEW CANAAN, QUEENS COUNTY, NB, CAN sometime after 1802 (?). He
married NANCY PEATMAN (could be PITMAN, PITTMAN) Abt. 1780. She was born
Abt. 1760 (possibly PA), and died in NB, CAN.
Children of WILLIAM HUMPHREY and NANCY PEATMAN are:
i. STEPHEN HUMPHREY.
ii. MARY HUMPHREY, b. Abt. 1785; d. Aft. 1851; m. WESLEY PERRY, Abt. 1807;
b. Abt. 1785; d. Aft. 1851.
iii. JOHN HUMPHREY, b. 1788; d. January 08, 1844, New Canaan, New
iv. ELIZABETH HUMPHREY, b. Abt. 1792; d. 1850.
v. MARGARET HUMPHREY, b. 1794; d. September 29, 1851.
vi. MEHETABLE (HETTY) HUMPHREY, b. 1801; d. March 05, 1827; m. SAMUEL
KEITH, July 20, 1819; b. 1793; d. December 18, 1867.
vii. DAVID HUMPHREY, b. May 22, 1802; d. March 14, 1869.
WILLIAM POSSIBLY IMMIGRATED TO NB CAN AS A LOYALIST FROM PENN USA c1794.
One book suggests that William and Nancy came for Rhode Island, USA to St
Johns, NB before settling in New Canaan, New Brunswick, Canada and the other
suggests that he came from Philadelphia, PA. (Is Philadelphia in Buck's
County? - Or a possibly Chester COunty?
Thanks again - maybe your answer to the question of Philadelphia being in Bucks County will be the answer to eliminate one place or the other.
