Abel DAvis, b. 1726, Bucks Co., PA

Abel Davis, b. Bucks Co., PA 1726 was son of Daiel Davis and Mary Mann/Manning who had moved from Piscataway, NJ to Bucks Co. Abel is thought to be related to Benjamiin Davis who m. Hannah Davis and moved from Maryland to Loudoun Co., vA where he d. 1803.
Abel m. Sarah Griffith d/o Rev Timothy Griffith. Following Rev. Timmothy's death his wife, Sarah sold land owned by Timothy's Estate to Abel Davis. The land encompassed IRON HILL and surrounded the Welsh Tract Church in Pencader Hundred, New Castle Co.,DE. Abel d. 1790 and his wife Sarah d. in 1796. Their children were Rachel, Mary Ann, John, Hannah and Benjamin. The IRON HILL property remained in the Davis Family until sold by Isaac Davis,a descendant. Family members moved to Worcester Co., MD.
Benjamin Davis, probably a cousin of Abel moved to MD where he lived until 1761 when he, his wife Mrs. Hannah Davis and an alleged son, Abel obtained a lifetime FAIRFAX lease on 100 acres.
Benjamin of Loudoun Co. d. early March 1803 and was buried in the North Fork Baptist Cemetery. Benjamin & Hannah had 2 sons: Howell [1759-1837] & Abel [1764-1847]and 4 daughters: Ann, Sarah,Rachel and Elizabeth. Ann m. Andrew Orrison/Arison. The other girls m. but positive records of their marriages are lacking.
Abel Davis who accompanied Benmjamin & Hannah was the father of Gideon Davis, b. 1780 and Zephaniah, b.1787. Abel, b. 1767 m. Mary Huffman. Mary d. after their move to Champaigh Co., OH where Abel m. Catherine Kirkwood in 1827. By 1835 most of the children of Abel & Mary had moved to White Co.,IN.
A brother of Abel Davis [1726-1790] Rev.John Davis [1721-1809 m. Jane Van Voorst was pastor of Winter Run Church, Harford Co., MD. See: Alderson Ancestry of the Jansen Daughters. Members of the Van Voorst Famiily settled in White Co., IN.
