I am a descendant of Sarah Treichler. She was b. 01 June 1781, m. Jacob Grisamore about 1799, and died 15 oct 1852 in Clark County, Indiana. Jacob (orig. spelling Griesemer) was from Hereford, Berks county. Sarah was a sister of your Elizabeth, and Elizabeth raised her when their mother died.
I have copy of a letter written by Silas T. Grisamore in 1879, I think, to his brother John (b. 1806). They were sons of Jacob and Sarah, above. Silas is telling John about the Griesemer and Treichler families that John had requested (bless him), and with that letter I pieced together a family chart. Over several years, I've gathered other info, and finally found some in Rootsweb that matches my info in enough areas to know it is mine, but it is still sketchy. There don't seem to be many records on the Treichlers.
I believe that Elizabeth Ledrach (or Lederach) was the wife of John (1736). That is from a will abstract for John Ledrach of Bucks county, in which he states that his son John Treichler had 10 children. I don't know if there is more proof of this. There are accounts of a wife named Esther. She may have been a second wife, maybe mentioned in the will? It is possible she may have been a Lederach also, as I found info on an Andrew Ledrach of Lower Salford who had children Magdalena, b. 1720 Montgomery Co. PA, Henry, and Esther - b. 1725-1739. I've found several instances where one sister died young and another sister married the widower. That is just a guess.
I have info that John (b. ca 1736) died in 1796, but I don't know what county - do you? I'd like to get a copy, but I haven't found him listed in will records for those counties (at least from the lists I've found on the net). I've tried lots of different spellings, and haven't had much luck. I don't know if there are any early deeds in existence, either, and where they would be. No church records, either.
If you haven't seen this letter from Silas, you will want to. It was published in a Genealogical Magazine, and I found it in the PERSI index - this index is very useful, by the way. I think I would be able to scan it to send to you.
I've had some trouble sorting out the Treichlers that were in York county, and some of them lived in Bucks county, the earliest known being a John, about the same age as ours, which makes it even more confusing. Some of our Treichlers also lived in Bucks county. Silas' letter said they were in Berks, Bucks, Lehigh, and Montgomery counties. I've gathered info about that family too, just to make sure they are kept separate - if that's possible.
I'm very glad to find a Treichler from my own branch. I have a photo of Sarah Elizabeth Grisamore. She was the daughter of John Grisamore (1806), brother of Silas. I can scan that and send also, if you like.
I wish there was a Genforum site on Treichlers - we might be able to lure more researchers that way.
Hope to hear from you, though your last message was some time ago.
