Dear Mr. Lay:

While searching for an ancestor's grave in Fells Church Cemetery, I happened upon the tombstone for a Matthew Basil. It caught my interest because it was one of the earliest in the cemetery. The inscription is as follows:

To the Memory of Matthew Basil
Born in Germany in the Year 1729
Settled with His Family
Near This Spot in 1776
Where He Died in 1786
A Pioneer and a Godly Man

I took a photo of his tombstone and will attempt to post it in the Virtual Cemetery on Genealogy.com. There are many Fells in this cemetery also.
