Ruth:

What info do you have about Brown families from Falls meeting from 1679 on?

I think the John they are talking about here is the grandson or great grandson of George and Mercy Wright Brown. George was born 1643 or 1644 in Leicestershire England, Mercy 1658, same place. They were married upon their arrival at New Castle DE in 1679. They proceeded up the Delaware River to Falls Twp. where they settled on land next door to land that would, three years later, be owned by William Penn. They were one of the families that started Falls Twp. For awhile he was a Justice of the Peace, being the first Englishman elected to such a post in PA.

I'm especially interested in who their first son was. I'm hoping it was J. Elias Brown who was born in 1681. J. Elias and his wife (posssibly an Eleanor) had at least 2 sons, John and James. John married an Eleanor Bogardus. John and Eleanor had numerous sons, one of whom was a John who married a Margaret Carpenter. I'm thinking that the John who married an Ann Field was possibly a son of James.

I know that John and James later moved to Hardy Co., (W)VA and later to Lewis Co., (W)VA. THere is a possibility that J. Elias might have moved to what is now Cumberland Co., PA in the 1720s. Not sure of this, though.

Any info will be appreciated. Post here for others, but respond to me, if you would. Thank you and God Bless.

Fred
