Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Invest a dollar and call them. Confirm hours, let them know what records you will want to be looking for. Possibly make appointment with one of the ref librarians, or find out if that is necessary. Ask about rules and regulations, and fees. They'll tell you.And you may find that your limited time is better spent if you've made contact with the right person ahead of time, shared with him/her what information you'll be needing, etc.
