Re: WHEELER Marriages in Lincoln County
Author: Janet Wheeler Knox Date: 20 Jul 2005 5:24 AM GMT
My grandmother and grandfather were married in Sparks, Lincoln Co. Oklahoma in 1910. His name was Ed Lavon Wheeler m. Peachie Mae Pidcock. His parents were MOSES AND BELLE WHEELER and I'm not sure if they ever lived in this County or not. Any info would be appreciated very much.
I am looking for any info on MOSES WHEELER and his wife BELLE. They were in Pottawatomie, Ok 1900, and 1910 census. Listed with them were their son ED WHEELER and
a daughter DOLLIE with her husband JAMES HAWKINS. The only dates I have are not too reliable, but here goes.
MOSES WHEELER b. 1834
BELLE WHEELER b. 1854
ED WHEELER b. 1890
DOLLIE WHEELER HAWKINS b. 1884
JAMES HAWKINS b. 1874
You might check Tulsa Co--I found and Ed Wheeler listed in the Soc Sec death index as follows:
b. 1 Jan 1890
d. May 1971
Last Residence Sand Spring, Tulsa Co, OK
That was their son, my grandfather. Moses and Belle are on the 1910 census in 4-Wd Shawnee, Pottawatomie Co. Okla.
In our family bible it has her death dated Sept. 3, 1911-and his is dated May 14, 1912 so I thought there may be a listing in Pottawatomie Co. Their daughter is listed also as being a neighbor in 1910. Her name is DOLLIE WHEELER m. JAMES M. HAWKINS. I need info on her as well.
This might be Ed Wheeler in 1920,Tulsa, CO:

Thank Goodness! I thought I was the only one looking for these 2! I have some information on their daughter Dollie. She was first married to James Monroe Hawkins Pictures available of them together. (I have info on his family) He was born in 1874, died June 17, 1930; buried Gretna Cemetery, Branson MO (I have a picture of his tombstone as well of those of his family) Dollie married Vernon Harold Green. They are both buried in Braymer, MO (have pictures of tombstones). Dollie and James had the following children:
1.Vella Virginia Hawkins (my grandmother) b: Dec 15, 1903 I believe in Shawnee, OK; died January 18, 1988 in Braymer, MO; buried in Braymer cemetery. Married 1. Hurshel Teeples; 2. Lee Alfred Cockrell (my grandfather, Have a lot on his family). They had Helen, Viola, Lee Jr., Herman, Robert Sidney, Howard Dean (my father)
2. Herman Hawkins, married but no children, died in Maine
3. Harry (Jim) Hawkins, has children
4. Avery Hawkins, died as an infant
I have not been able to find anything on these people before 1900. My grandfather was MOSES AND BELLE'S son ED. DOLLIE was his sister. I found his and his wife PEACHIE listed in 1920 and 1930 with all their kids. My dad was CLARENCE. My grandpa always had a mystery about his background and family that now no one knows exactly what it was all about. But it had some connection with a BREWER name. In the bible his mother(Belle's) maiden name is listed as BREWER. If you have pictures or any information on Dollie or any other members of this family, I would love to receive it. Also, if I should have something you would be interested in, I will definitely send it to you.
Thank you so much for your reply. I have not been able to find anything on these people before 1900. My grandfather was MOSES AND BELLE'S son ED. DOLLIE was his sister. The information I have on the other WHEELER brother is from 1930 census in Lone Rock, Okla. Caddo County. Ray W Wheeler b. abt 1882 in Illinois, married to Carrie N. ???. Their children are as listed:
HAROLD R. b. 1909
GLADYS J. b. abt 1911
LEO B. b. 1914
MILDRED b. abt 1919
I am looking for information on ED WHEELER b. 1890 in Blue Jacket, Ok. and his parents MOSES WHEELER b. 7/25/1834 in Pennsylvania and BELLE BREWER WHEELER b. 5/10/1854 in Illinois. ED and his wife PEACHIE MAE PIDCOCK were married in Sparks, Ok. 11/25/1910
Could someone help me or direct me to a website that would list the Churches in Chandler, Ok. in 1890's and early 1900's. I would like to have adresses in order to find which one my grandmother's family attended and might have baptism papers or other mention of her family. The family names PIDCOCK AND WHEELER.
I am searching for information about a JAMES M. HAWKINS that lived in Oklahoma in Pottawatomie Co. in 1900 in Davis, Ok. and again in 1910 in Shawnee. In 1900 census it shows him living with his wife DOLLIE WHEELER's family. MOSES AND BELLE WHEELER are the ones I'm trying to trace and I thought I might find a clue from his daughter and family. I would appreciate any info on either family.
