I see a reference to the Daughters of the American Colonists which is a pretigious organization. I don't know if you wish to belong, but it appears you and your family members would be eligible for membership.

Some of his descendants anglicized the name to SHOEMAKER. (Note: The Minisink region consists of the valley of the Delaware River between the "Water Gap" and the present site of Port Jervis, New York. The "Old Mine Road" (Sopus or Esopus Road) was on the southeast side of the Magakoneck Creek. The route to Port Jervis was from South Maple Avenue at Tri-States along the Creek's bank, and passed Solomon KUYKENDALL's home to the Abraham and James Van AKEN place, along the lowlands to the property of John VAN VLIET and Jacob WESTFAEL's to the DECKER's farm. The Lower neighborhood was on the southeast side of the creek while the Upper Neighborhood was on the opposite side, or the northwest side. THE DECKER QUARTERLY, (Oct. 1980), Vol.I, No.1; C.G. Hine, THE OLD MINE ROAD (1909), reprinted 1963, passim. THE PENNSYLVANIA ARCHIVES, 2nd series, vol.19, p.763 states, "In 1732, Thomas QUICK, Hendrick SCHOONMAKER and others presented a petition to purchase some vacant land on this (the west) side of the Delaware River rom the Indians who owned it, and were temporarily refused." Lands surveyed to Hendrick SCHOONMAKER along the Delaware River in what is now Monroe County, Pennsylvania (near Stroudsburg) are shown in the PENNSYLVANIA ARCHIVES, Series 6, vol.12, pp.71,75.
