MELVILLE, John Melville, one of Burlington township's best known and most highly regarded citizens, died Wednesday morning of this week at 6 o'clock, at his home at Luthers Mills after a long illness, following a stroke of paralysis which he suffered last December. He was left helpless and speechless by the stroke and his suffering was great. Death came as a relief. Mr. Melville was 67 years of age, and is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. L. C. Horton of Hornbrook; three brothers, Andrew Melville of Luthers Mills, William Melville of Athens, and Frank Melville of Powell; also four sisters, Mrs. Daniel Brown of Ralston, Mrs. Minor Wilcox of Dushore, Mrs. Mahlon Smith of LeRoy, and Mrs. Frank Yetter of Powell.--September 12, 1911 issue of Towanda newspaper.
