Looking for any info on the family of my G-G-grandfather, WILLIAM TROTTER. William was born Apr. 9, 1842 at Sandy Hill, Perry County, PA and was a resident of Altoona for over 45 years, employed by the Penn. Railroad for over 30 years. William was enrolled in the 9th Penn. Cavalry, Co. E, on Sep. 16th, 1861, and was discharged Dec. 24th, 1864 in Savannah, GA, after Sherman's March to the sea. He was a member of G.A.R. Post #62 Altoona. He died at 1410 18th Ave., Altoona, on Feb. 11th, 1920. William married Susanna Baughman on March 15th, 1866; their children were James E. of Columbus, OH (b.4/9/1867); Lawrence of Altoona (b.8/8/1869); George Edward Brehman (my g-grandfather) of Altoona (b.8/2/1874); and Katherine (Fogleman) of Altoona (b.5/8/1877). I have been able to trace my maternal line from my mother's father Ralph Trotter to his father G.E.B. to his father William (all longtime Altoona residents), but have reached a dead end with William's parents (father's name Robert (?), mother's name is illegible on death cert.). I also have had no luck with Perry Co./Blair Co. census records, birth, or Civil War regimental records (other than his discharge papers). The family eventually moved into Blair, Juniata, and Mifflin counties as well. Are there any Trotter descendants out there?! :)
Thanks!
Stacey Henry
