Soldier's Orphan School, 1870, Phillipsburg Boro.

Does anyone have any information on the Soldier's Orphan School in the year of 1870? Is there a historical society in the area that might have records, photos, or information?
My gr-gr grandmother and her two brothers are listed as being there in 1870. Julia A, Jesse, and Theodore Hanson. I have been unable to find their parents listed in any census for 1870 and believe they may have well been orphans or their father died in the Civil War. Any information will be greatly accepted.
