Thomas Gillespie's parents were Thomas Gillespie, Sr. (b. 1799, d. 1856) and Mary (Polly) E. Yoho (b. 1803). Thomas Gillespie, Sr.'s father was John Gillaspie (b. 1776). Mary Yoho's parents were Jacob Yoho (b. 1775, d. 1843) and Mary Lawrence (b. 1769). Mary Lawrence's parents were Johann Philip Lorenz (b. 1727) and Susanna Funkhauser.

Mary Ann Hazen (b. 1838, d. 1920)'s parents were John Hazen (b. 1789, d. 1853) and Elizabeth Caldwell (b. 1796, d. 1854)
