Michael, as a descendant of one of Woods families in western PA 1790-1840, check out following PA counties, in order of their path into Indian country frontier. Bedford, Washington,Allegheny, Mercer and Beaver. Most, if not all, served in the RW, got land grants for serving in the most hostile area of the RW, and in later conflict with the Indian nations. Henry Woods (on Heritage Quest) lived in Beaver Co after RW. By 1800 most of other Woods lived in Allegheny and Mercer Cos. They probably lived in all those counties, yet never changed location, since all created from Bedford, then Washington Cos. If you have time read Historic Pittsburgh on internet, especially "The 15th Ward of the City of Pittsburgh" (Allegheny Co)Be sure to check Thomas Woods in 1790 censuses of Allegheny and Mercer Co, 1800 census. bob in OK
