Did some checking -- and it seems that 1834 may NOT have been too early for a picture. (Boy, you learn something every day!) Would certainly like to see any picture(s) of Mary Bell that you have seen and could scan and send to me. Did the pictures have a name written on them? How do you know that it's actually Mary Bell?

I learned that in 1834 -- Henry Fox Talbot fixed permanent (negative) images on paper soaked in silver chloride using a salt solution. He then created a positive image by contact-printing onto another sheet of paper.

Thus, it is indeed possible that you have seen pictures of Mary Bell.
