Hello again....

Please ignore previous post -- I was sent on a wild goose chase -- but found some information nonetheless.

The information you have about the settling of the estate of William Morton, Jr -- would seem to fit with the info I have about him. Estate settling used to take a while to finish -- and so, your info from the Beaver Argus would be about right. I've been to the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Cemetery to look for William Morton Jr's grave -- but it seems that his grave must not be marked anymore. If you know differently -- please let me know! I could find all sorts of other Mortons after I was directed to the right location by the cemetery groundskeepers (what a blessing they are!). Do you have any info about William Morton's cause of death? He died quite young and I'm trying to find out how he died -- perhaps just morbid curiousity....

William Morton was married to Rebecca Hazen -- the daughter of Samuel Hazen -- and granddaughter of Nathaniel Hazen. That part of my messae remains true and proven....

Here's were I goofed up the last message. Rebecca Hazen Morton is buried beside her 2nd husband -- Alexander Caven -- in the North Sewickley Presbyterian Cemetery in Ellwood City, PA. Rebecca's parents -- Samuel and Elizabeth Hazen are buried a short distance from her grave. Rebecca's grandfather -- Nathaniel Hazen is also buried in the same cemetery -- just a few feet from Samuel and Elizabeth Hazen's grave.

I had seen a web-site (which is still working, BTW) where someone stated that they had walked through the Providence Baptist cemetery and had seen the graves of Nathaniel Hazen and his wife -- thus, that's where I "thought" he is buried. There was a whole list of people who were supposedly buried at Providence and there was a long list of names and dates supposedly copied from the stones in Providence Baptist cemetery posted on the site. So off I went on a 100 mile wild goose chase (200 mile round trip - OUCH!). When I got to the cemetery, all I found was an overgrown piece of ground beside the church -- obviously not maintained for many years - with approximately a dozen grave markers that were nearly blank due to weathering and years of fading (nothing at all like the cemetery that I expected to find). The person who said that she walked through the cemetery, copied the info off of the grave markers and put the info on the Internet (let this be a lesson to all of us) must be older than dirt. That person (I won't name names) would have had to walk through the cemetery 100 years ago -- when there actually were grave markers -- and when the few grave markers that still exist could have been read. As I said, I went on a wild goose chase -- only to discover, later, that Nathaniel Hazen -- and the rest of his family -- is actually buried in the North Sewickley cemetery. I know THAT for a fact now -- because I've actually seen the grave and done a rubbing of the marker.

Anyways -- I'm still looking for the cause of William Morton's untimely death. If anyone has any info please let me know.
