Early Tax Lists: Ninian CHAMBERLAIN

I am wondering if there still exist tax lists prior to 1779 for those parts of York Co. that later became Adams Co.

It is my understanding that an ancestor of mine, Ninian Chamberlain, b. c1718--not to be confused with his nephew Ninian, b. 1751, the son of brother Jeremiah--appears on the 1762 tax list for Berwick Twp. (apparently under the name "Naan Shamberlain"). This Ninian later moved to western NC which then became east TN. I have access to the "PA Archives" that record several York tax lists beginning with 1779, but I have never been able to find earlier tax lists for York Co. My Ninian and family lived in the York Co., PA/Frederick Co., MD area during the 1760s and 1770s. Indeed, there appears to be a second York Co. tax listing for both 1779 & 1780 in the "PA Archives" lists for him in Reading Twp., which is also where his brother Jeremiah lived. (Tax listings for Jeremiah's son, Ninian, all appear in Mt. Pleasant Twp. and continue there for a number of yrs. after his uncle Ninian's departure for NC.)

I would thus appreciate any information that you can provide--both with respect to the existence of earlier tax lists and with regard to any specific 1760s or 1770s tax listings for Ninian Chamberlain in Berwick or Reading twps. Thank you.
