Looking for info on Mabel Oyler. One of eight children born to Henrietta Henry Battman and Phillip Oyler. Granddaughter of Phillip Oyler and Lucretia Fanny Leach. Born around 1888. Died in Ohio in 1927 at age 39 from a cerebral hemorrhage (according to my mom, Mabel's granddaughter). Had threed children, all with the last name Batt (Harold, George, Thelma). Father of children unknown but rumor has it it was a man named Jean Baptiste Batt buried in NY. Mabel died under the name Ritter. According to my mom, she was married to a man named Paul Revere Ritter. Legend has it that Paul Revere Ritter was so distraught over Mabel's death he tried to shoot himself at her gravesite. The gun misfired and somehow ignited his clothes and he burned to death. Sounds farfetched but that is what I am told.
Can anyone offer any info?
