Greetings Everyone!

I am deep into doing the genealogy for my side of the family that is Oxendine. I've hit one of those infamous brick walls and need some help if anyone can provide it.

My grandmother's maiden name is Helen Oxendine, her father was William Thomas Oxendine AKA Noah Oxendine. My great-great grandfather's name is Alex Oxendine and here's where I hit my brick wall. I found him through a 1910 Federal Census for Georgia. He was married to a black woman named Louise. It lists his original place of birth as being North Carolina but I can't seem to find out WHERE. My grandmother says she's heard he was from Wilmington but I don't think there were too many Lumbees in that area, however I suppose it's a possibility.

Does anyone know of any Lumbees that were in Wilmington, NC in the 1800s? My great-great grandfather Alex was born about 1857. He allegedly has a brother named John and a cousin named Glen (or Glenn). If there's any information anyone can provide, that'd be great. It's frustrating because I don't know the names of his siblings or close relatives to get past him!
