Some of this information you have posted on my ancestor, Thomas Franklin Owensby, Sr. is truly incorrect. Are you a descendant?
His marriage is recorded in Henry County, Georgia at the office of the Probate Judge. His Will is also recorded there, and many of the pages regarding his estate. He was much older than Nancy Morgan and states in his Will they were married for sixteen years.
My mother is a descendant of Louisa Ann Elizabeth Owensby Lester, who married Hiram Jackson Lester. I researched these families in McDonough at the Courthouse. Anything I have written I have been careful to state the sources. Many things written about Thomas Owensby and Hiram Lester, father of Hiram Jackson Lester were assumptions or just plain made up for the benefit of the printed press of the day. One of President Lyndon Johnson's grandparents was the sheriff of Henry County and served papers regarding the matter.
Nancy Morgan Owensby filed suit against the Executor of Thomas Franklin Owensby, Sr. estate about 1844 because women were not allowed to have property in their own name. All these records are public knowledge.
