Maj. Bill and Janie were my ggg-grandparents. Add me to the hunt!!!
Maj. Bill (listed as W.C.) and family are in the 1880 Barren Co, Ky census with children W.T.male age 23,S.A. son age 20, C.C. son age 15, R.B. son age 13 and M.F. daughter age 10. Their daughter, Lucy had married by this time and was living next door with husband G.W. Bunch who had been married to Lucy's aunt Marcella (born 1851/died prior to 1880). They had another daughter Joanna, who was my gg grandmother. She married John William "Rattlesnake John" Compton in 1875 and was living in Metcalfe County, Ky.
I haven't had any luck finding out where Maj. Bill was born. Census records state he was born in Ky, but my grandfather always told me his grandfather (Bill) was born in Tennessee.
I'm still in search of his parents and siblings.
If anybody has any suggestions for where to look, I'll be glad to do the leg work.
