Joseph 'Joe' Owens, 66, 710 East Second Street, Apartment
214, Elizabethton, Carter Co TN, died Tuesday, September
1, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.

A native of New Haven, CT, he was the son of Donald Lamar
and Veronica Stiber Owens of Virginia. Mr. Owens was a
retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. He
was a member of Beck Mountain Baptist Church.

Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his first wife, Fay
Owens; and a grandson, Richard Owens.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Owens, of the home; a
son, Randy Owens and his wife, Mary, Erwin, TN; two
daughters, Danielle Hill, Greeneville, TN, and Linda Shupe
and her husband, Brad, Elizabethton, TN; nine grand-
children, Christy McKinney, B. J. McKee, Dustin McKee,
William Owens, Anthony Owens, Scott Owens, Jennifer,
Kimberly, and Wendy; several great-grandchildren; a step-
son, Billy Joe Blevins and his wife, Lisa, Johnson City,
TN; a step-daughter, Jennifer LeAnn Carpenter, Elizabethton,
TN; and three step-grandchildren, Logan and Kelsey
Carpenter, and Daylann Blevins.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to the
staff and his many friends at Courtyard Apartments and to
Caris Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.,
Thursday in the Community Room of the Courtyard Apartments
prior to the service or at the residence at other times.

A memorial service for Joseph 'Joe' Owens will be conducted
at 7 p.m., Thursday, September 3, 2009, in the Community
Room of the Courtyard Apartments, Elizabethton, TN, with
Rev. Henry King officiating. Music will be under the
direction of Rev. Henry King.
