Here's another puzzle to further complicate matters. I show Arthur Ownbey had sons Thomas and John Sr. This Thomas married Mary Stamper on July 27, 1727 in Christ Church, Middlesex Co., VA. They had two children Thomas and Mary.
John Sr. had a son Thomas who married a Mary Brooks Stamper. This Thomas would be a brother to John Jr. who raised Powell Stamper Ownbey that married Elizabeth Ownbey. They did marry cousins back then. But if Brooks was her maiden name and Stamper was a first marriage then they were not real cousins. And they kept using the same names generation after generation which makes it hard to keep up with them all. This is all back in the time that I do not have alot of proof so I may have them all mixed up.
According to my information John Sr. possibly died in Mercer or Shelby Co., KY as I show him to have migrated with his son James to KY in 1782. In November 1793 he left all his personal property to James as he was getting advanced in age.
