Hi Sue,
This was your message:"
I have tried to follow up on this, but no luck getting in contact with Charles James Fisk. Do you have any information on Captain William Beane Owen, and especially his father, John Thomas Owen, who was the father of James Memory Owen?

I reasearching Captian William Beane Owen (CSA)and his son who died during a Tennessee River battle during the Civil War in North Alabama near Guntersville and were from Jackson County.
I don't have much information yet, William's father was John Thomas Owen b January 29,1826 Confederate War Dept Number was 92262. I am led to belive he was a Confederate States Master Sgt or Officer in Army because several letter about his commands are in our family but no rating was given, and the family owned 320 acres in Madison County after the war.(was this too much land for a non rated man to own? maybe)
William's mother was Nancy Ann Golden b Mar 21, 1860. Her mother was Margaret Ann (Peggy) Baker.
Reguards
Charles James Fisk"

I can't find too much about this family, even tho I've been "beating the bushes" for years! My main lines are Davis and Walker from Madison County, Alabama.
My mother was a Davis, and her younger sister, married Harold Jackson Owen. His parents were James Memory Owen and Nancy Ann Golden. He had a sister named Ada Catherine Owen, (1883/AL-1952/AL.She was m. in 1899 to James Elza Fisk. They had a son named Charles Anderson Fisk who m. in 1835 Adeline Elizabeth Nichols.I have CHARLES JAMES FISK as their eldest son, b. in 1939.He would be about 70 years old by now.
The parents of James Memory and Ada Catherine Owen were, as I said above, James Memory Owen and Nancy Ann Golden.do have the parents of James Memory Owen as Jonathan, (John) Thomas Owen, b. 1826/SC- m. to Trenton, Jackson County, Alabama and supposedly died 1909/TX.He was m. 1) to malissa Wells Crocker, (Messa".She was b. 1820/SC and d. c. 1884/AL.
Their children were:
1)William Beane Owen - b. Dec 31, 1845/SC and d. Oct. 28. 1864 who was a Captain killed During a Tennessee River Battle in North Alabama near Guntersville in the service of the CSA.I don't have a wife or child for him.Do you?If so would you please share the information....maybe I could get some other clues.
I have the siblings of William Beane and James Memory Owen if you want them.
I also have that John Thomas Owen m. Lucinda Prince in 1886/AL after the death of Messa. They had one son:Thomas Prince Owen.
I have a tentative father for John Thomas Owen as John Owen, b. 1792/Va-d. 1888, Lathamville, DeKalb County, Alabama. No further information.
I have gone back to my Walker information to Memory Walker, b. 1833/GA -d. 1918/AL.I did this because of the unusual name of "Memory" trying ti find a connection; but no luck. His father was James Buckner Walker and his father was Jeremiah Walker, a Baptist preacher, who seemed to name some of his children fanciful, biblical names....Memorable, Lamentation, Moaning, Prudence, and Charity.I had other children for him; but not the ones I just mentioned.....I just came across them recently. However, no luck on a connection.
I have also traced the line of William P. Owen and Nancy LaPrade....because one of their daughters, Nancy LaPrade Owen m. a John William Walker, (not the famous Senator from AL.)Struck out here as well. The father of this John William Walker was of the same name and called 'Indian John".I don't know the reason. He was m. to Martha Smith.
After 40 years of research, I know there is Indina blood in all of my lines......just can't find the connections. The names of the Walkers in GA are just the same as some of my Walker line in Madison County.Supposedly. according to Kathleen Jones, all of the Walkers in Madison County were kin.I have the Goldens and Goldmans in my Walker line and also in the Coffman line.
Does any of this "ring a bell"?
Best,
Lynn
