I have a friend who descends from Benjamin Franklin Owen of Sullivan Co., IND. I can't help you with the McKee line, but I wondered if you knew where in Georgia they came from.
Benjamin Franklin Owen (Jr.) married Jane S. A. Barker on 24 January 1833 in Bibb County, GA. Benjamin Franklin Owen (Jr.) was the son of Benjamin Franklin Owen (Sr.)who died in Bibb County, GA about 1833. His will was dated 14 June 1833, and in it he named his two sons Benjamin Franklin Owen (Jr.) and William Henry Owen, his step-son Charles Williamson Hargrove, and he also referred to his wife Elmyria A. and his father-in-law Rev. Charles Williamson. (Benj. Sr. married Elmyria A. Hargrove, a widow, in Georgia in 1828.) To his son Benjamin Franklin (Jr.) he left his "collar button containing a portion of the binding of General Washington's Revolutionary Marquee."
After his father's death, Benj. F., his wife Jane and her mother Abigail Barker, and his brother William Henry moved to Sullivan Co., IND.They can be found there on the 1840 census.
In 1850 this young McKee boy (you state that he was a nephew of Benjamin)was living with Benjamin and his family. I wonder if that was actually his wife Jane's nephew since it appears that Benjamin Franklin Owen did not have a sister, only a brother and a step-brother.Hope some of this information will help you.
Good luck with your research.
Carol
