In this pension file it gives the impression that his birthday was March 8, 1848. On the application it never asks for date and place of birth. There is mention of Him being 99 years old when he applied and mention of a 100th Birthday Party in a letter dated March 12, 1948. BUT in one letter dated July 20, 1953 to Mr. Robert E. Swayne from Robert S. Calvert Comptroller of Public Accounts in the second paragraph it says>>... Mr. Dalton stated at the time of filing application for pension that he was 99 years old and had lived in Texas since March, 1848. He was born in April, 1844 according to a notice filed with his application for pension<<.
That notice whatever it was is not in the pension file. And this is the only letter that mentions it.
