Zerelda's Story

This part of Zerelda's story describing her heartaches, posted by Linda Snyder, caught my attention:
"Haven't I had enough trouble to dull me to them? Indeed I have. But I haven't let them crush me--they've just dried up my tears, that's all. "
Makes one wonder if today's woman has the same strength, or if that was unique to the hardships of yesterday?
