I agree wholeheartedly with Philip Kromer's comments in the posting below. But the good news is that Zerelda James Samuel's remains don't have to be exhumed for mtDNA testing. Sue Laura Hale's mtDNA is identical to Zerelda's and was taken under strict chain of custody guidelines.
It's better to use Sue Laura Hale's mtDNA as a reference source because who knows if Zerelda's bones are really her bones after the 1995 exhumation?
