If one can believe what Reverand Robert Highley wrote in his book "Jesse James" though Officially Dead,lived on for 65 years. On Page 22,he writes that Bob James the son of Frank James was asked to come and talk to the old man in Jail. Eighteen other men had tried to set themselves up as the "Real Jesse James," but they had taken care to keep a distance from the people who would have remembered him as a neighbor.
This impostor was John James. There was a hearing in 1933 that proves this John James was a fraud.
