I'll have Bird Poo Cobbler!
I was working in in the city next to a city park with a chain link fence surrounding it. Along the grassy area in front of our parking, I discovered blackberries growing. I gathered some and made a cobbler, which I took to work the next day. During the morning break, we all had a bowl of the cobbler. We, included several of the younger generation, who remarked they had never eaten homemade cobbler. Lots of compliments followed, and one young girl asked where I got the blackberries, and I pointed to the fence and grassy area. Who planted them, she asked. Probably the birds, I replied. Birds? How? Well, they eat the blackberries, then while sitting on the fence, nature and bodily functions happen, and since the seeds don't digest, etc.
She SPIT her bite of cobbler out, and it was forever after known as the Bird Poo Cobbler.
Do you have any record of William C's parents after 1860?
Fran
