I traveled to Witherslack and stayed with our relatives.I was taken to the church where our family has been baptized, married and buried since late 1790. Their records show this.We are direct descendants of the family of Thomas Otway, the poet - his father being Humphrey. Our family originally settled in the northern Lacashire district during the time of the Norman conquest, and the earliest records of 1260 show a Roger Otway in Lancashire.
Our relatives are currently scattered around Witherslack and the tiny town of Warton, Carnforth, Lancashire - by Moorcomb Bay.It's a town of one street - Main Street, and my aunt lives on it across from the home that still stands - birthplace of George Washington's father.
Contact me for more info if you like.
