I thought Ottey descendants may be interested in knowing the story of how John Ottey came from England to America. John Ottey brought his wife Ann Iddings and four children (Richard, Phillip, Thomas, and Christopher) to America on the Welcome, an early ship from England. He was a servant to William Penn for some time- that is how his family ended up settling in Pennsylvania. On the voyage, his name was mistakenly printed as John Ohey- translated into John Hey. Therefore some of the earliest records of the family's arrival may refer to John Hey instead of John Ottey.
