Folks have said that the names OTTLEY, OTTEY, OTTLEE, OTLEY, OATLEY, OTTELE, etc. are all the same name. My name is OTTLEY, and I have been told my ancestors are from Scotland via England, St. Kitts, Antigua, St. VIncent, Grenada, and Tobago. Of course the name John OttLey is a common Ottley name. My Grandfather Joseph Ottley (1870-1924) had a brother John Singay "Foompan" Ottley. My g-grandfather, Thomas Ottley had a brother John Christopher Ottley. They all came from Tobago. My cousin,(4th removed) the late Dr. Neville Ottley, married a Jamaican girl, Esther Harriott Ottley, still living. I am not aware of, but it is quite possible, any Ottleys from Jamaica. Just being from a different island may make the difference in the spelling of the name, Ottey and Ottley.
