Also a John Otten, (he was refered to as uncle John)who was killed in Colorado in abt. 1914. Need all the help I can get.<

The John Otten mentioned who died in Colorado in about 1914 may connect with the John Otten who was killed in the Vulcan Mine Disaster in Dec 1913. Here's the quote: " John Otten killed Dec. 16, 1913. This was in a casualty list for the Vulcan Mine 1896-1913 Newcastle Co. Colorado. The mine was operated by Coryell Mine Leasing Co. Charles Mordink, Superintendant. List of miners killed Dec. 16, 1913 in Coal Mine Explosion." I have information on this incident and the sources if someone desires. I'd like to rule this John Otten out as my gr-gr-grandfather, who reportedly went west from Milwaukee and became a miner. More info is on the Colorado GenWeb site.
