I came across an interview with a “Mrs. G. O. Otte” in Frontier Times, May 1927, and I’m trying to ascertain this woman’s identity. According to the article, she was eighty years old at that time; she came to Fredericksburg from Germany when she was about five; she had an older sister named Caroline; she settled eight miles south of Brady around 1888; and she had eleven children. I checked the McCulloch County history books, but found no “G. O. Otte.” I suspect that this woman was Mrs. Fritz (Fernandina Ottmers) Otte, and that “G. O.” was a misprint. Can anyone confirm this for me? Was there any other Otte family living in McCulloch County at the time? I plan to quote from the article in a book I’m writing, so I’d like to make sure I have the correct name. Thank you very much.
