Jim,
Wow, sorry for the long delay in response. My grandfather, being born in Philly in 1876, was a bricklayer.Seems he ended up in Pittsburgh, moved to Steubenville, Ohio for a time and then back to Pittsburgh. My dad had an older brother, Melvin (or Francis Melvin) born in Pgh. around 1908; my dad was born in Steubenville in 1920, and another child William Verne was born in 1921 but died on his 1st birthday from bronchial pneumonia.Must have moved back to Pgh. after that, as there was a daughter born in August 1923 in Pgh.My grandfather died in March 1928 when my dad was only 8 years old.I don't know what name my grandfather went by and I can't find ANYTHING on him. He's buried in St. Mary's Cemetery -- cemetery records have him under Henry Otley, but his tombstone (which we have found) has Harry S. Otley on it.My father is buried in the same cemetery under Harry C. Otley.I tried to get death certificates for him, but there are no records.I would love to know where his family came from and don't know where to start.I have seen his name on the 1910 and 1920 censuses. He could have been a Henry, a Harry, or William Henry Spearing Otley.Any suggestions?
