Disputed birthplace of John OTIS the immigrant (1581-1657)

Has anyone found a birth or baptism record for John OTIS?

All sources say that he was born in 1581 in England, but I have 5 sources that claim it was in Glastonbury, Somerset, England and 3 that claim it was Barnstable, Devonshire, England. I don't trust any of them since all cite only his year of his birth, 1581, suggesting that his birthyear was estimated from his age at death, not from a birth or baptism record.

Here are how the sources line up:

THE FOLLOWING SAY HE WAS BORN IN GLASTONBURY, SOMERSET, ENGLAND

William A. Otis, A Genealogical and Historical Memoir of the Otis Family in America. Compiled and Arranged from Various Sources (Chicago, IL: Fellow American Institute of Architects. 1924)

James Savage, A Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England Showing Three Generations of Those Who Came Before May, 1692, of the Basis of Farmer's Register, Volume III (Baltimore, MD: Genealogical Publishing Company, 1965)

Charles Dunham Knight and Edwin Clark (collator), Genealogical memoranda of the descendents of Dea. Daniel Dunham of Manlius, Onondaga Co. NY (Unpublished, 1928. Obtained from Sandy Holmes, 26 Laurel St, Fairhaven, MA 02719)

David Sanders Clark, Notes on the Otis Family and Related Families (Washington, DC: by author?, 1965)

William T. Davis, Ancient Landmarks of Plymouth (Boston, MA: Damrell & Upham, 1899)

THE FOLLOWING SAY HE WAS BORN IN BARNSTABLE, DEVONSHIRE, ENGLAND

Ellery Bicknell Craned (Editor), Historical Homes and Institutions and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of Worcester County Massachusetts, with a History of Worcester Society of Antiquity (Volume I). (New York: The Lewis Publishing Company, 1907)

William Richard Cutter, New England Families, Genealogical and Memorial; a Record of the Achievements of her People in the Making of Commonwealths and the Founding of a Nation; Complied under the Editorial Supervision of William Richard Cutter, Volume II. (New York, NY: Lewis Historical Publishing Company, 1915.)

George Lincoln, History of the Town of Hingham, Massachusetts (Hingham, MA: Town of Hingham, 1893)
