Lydia Ostrander was bapt 30 Mar 1754 at GRC Rhinebeck, Dutchess Co, NY. She married at Kinderhook, 24 Apr 1774 RDC Cornelis (spelled with no U) Sluyter, who shortly thereafter entered service during when the Rev war brokeout, serving under Capt Moses Cantine, 3rd Ulster regiment under Colonel Levi Pawling (both records found page 122 OSTRANDER Big Book). I do find a Corneluis(with a U)and Jacob Sluyter on the same list out of Ulster in NY in the Rev., by Roberts and Mather, but it does not indicate they were with Cantine. If this is the same Cornelis as the husband of Lydia Ostrander, this military service does explain why since they married in '74 their children didn't begin to arrive until after '79
