Hello Bruce -
Sorry no one replied to you so long ago!I don't often look in this forum.
I am an Osterhout and the ...
gg grandaughter of Webster O (1797-1864) m Sarah Jayne
Webster is son of Pelatiah O (1772-1806) m Hannah Dunham (dau of Mary Reno - interesting connection)
Pelatiah is son of Gideon O (c1731-1813) m Abigail Webster
Gideon is son of Jan Lauwerens (bp1702-?)m Anna Westvael
This is a quote from a genealogy by Homer Osterhout in 1953:
"From 'The History of Luzerne, Lackawanna and Whyoming Counties, Pennsylvania' pub 1880 - "The Osterhout family emigrated from Holland.Jeremiah came to Pennsylvania in 1778 in company with his brother Gideon, both settling upon the flat lands near the Susquehanna and now composing the Jenkins and Osterhout farms at LaGrange.Peter and Isaac are also brothers." "
I have more from that genealogy on the early Osterhouts, but it is primarily concerned with the descendants of Gideon. However, it does seem they were brothers. So that makes us cousins of a sort - well, at long distance! My Dad (Ronald O.) was born in Wilkes Barre, PA.So 'til then my line of the family remained solidly in PA.Please let me know if you'd like any more info.I'm happy to supply what I have, or just chat.
Kind regards,
