Thank you for your response! I'm not sure about the names you gave me. I can only tell you that they are from the Grandy Duchy of Dinklage near Oldenberg.

However, I thought I'd add this little tidbit while I try to piece your information together: Lloyd Ostendorf who lived in Dayton, Ohio, died recently. He was a well-known Lincoln scholar and expert and contributed to, among other things, the Ken Burns production on the Civil War. I had an opportunity to interview him once and he told me we were cousins. He wasn't sure how, but he said the Ostendorfs were all related and began coming to Kentucky (around the Covington area) sometime in the 1830s. He said mine were obviously later arrivals, but he insisted they were of the same family.

So, I thought you'd enjoy knowing that. And I'll get back to you as soon as I come up with something on my own latecomers to the scene.
