Osvaldo Osio, et al.
The Osio name originates in Northern Italy in a community which is presently Bergamo.Neighborhoods in that city are actually named after us.Osio family members are found in Milan and the Lake Como area, Switzerland (Lugano & Locarno), Austria and Poland. Some of our ancestors migrated south to spain (the famous Bishop of Cordova) and thereafter from Spain to the New World, particularly Mexico, but also Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Argentina.Ours is the California side of the family who migrated from Mexico. Our forebears had mining interests in Baja California when these were territories of Spain. Also, as soldiers of fortune, they accompanied the Padres in establishing the Missions in the Californias (late 1700's & early 1800's).One of our ancestors, Antonio Osio, was the Port Commissioner (Tax collector) and co-founder of the Port of Monterey, California. His former home is now the visitors bureau.
