Diana,
The David Osborne that I seek information about was on the 1850 census with his parents so born about 1837.He would have been too young for this David on that 1870 census to have been his son, of course. It is just that I find ONE Militray record of a David Osborne serving CSA from NC.Those military records do NOT give age so I am trying to determine who the David Osborne was that served. My person should have been of age to maybe serve and his younger brother, my grandfather, did serve but I have no way of really proving who this David Osborne on that 1870 census was nor the David Osborne serving CSA.
My David Osborne is just not tracable past the 1850 census.
I have done DNA testing and am really trying to locate the parents of this David's father - Marshall Osborne. So I was trying to trace all of his children to see if I could locate some descendant who might know the names of their ancestor and Marshall's father.
I just need the one link to have a paper trail back to the Richard Osborne 1618 that the DAN says we descdne from.I have located one possible person as the ancestor but he and his family of two boys and a girl disappear after the 1820 NY census. They are just absolutely not found and of course I do not know the names of the two males that were of age to be my Marshall.
I know that someone doing DNA and matching with me and having informaiton that I do NOT HAVE is going to be the only chance of me getting the answer I seek. ha
I will certainly keep you in mind if I run across other Davids while I am looking.Of course my problem is spelling as it was Osburn, Osborn, Osborne and no telling what else. ha
I did have a CSA stone set at Norfork, AR for my grandfather, Ezekiel Newton Osborne, who had the brother David. My person was captured as a 19 year old and served two years in Sandusky, OH at Johnson Prison. After release, he walked back to AR with a person he had met in prison and met and married that man's niece who in turn became my grandmother. He never got back home to NC, ever.
We are going to have a dedication ceremony at the family reunion the last week in June in AR for my grandfater.I live a thousand miles from AR but will go to get this done.
I guess I am lucky to know this much, but just would love to know the rest of the story.
