Chuck,

This is interesting indeed. Did the person from the Montgomery, VA Recorders Office say where the information on a Greta Osborne being buried there in 1796 comes from? Burials weren't "recorded" back then, except maybe by the church or the particular cemetery -- you need to email back to the Montgomery, VA Recorders Office to ask for the source of his/her information, whether it was copied off of a gravestone, or whatever. And if copied off of a gravestone, then the information on the name and location of the cemetery needs to be given.

Even though the Recorder is a public official, this is not the kind of information that should be accepted as is, without the pertinant source information that can be verified.
