Captain Ephraim Osborne...
The book has several ref. to Capt. Osborne, in Chapter 35. His first name is only mentioned once, and it is Ephraim. All other times he is mentioned, it just calls him, Osborne. Anyway, he was wounded in the arm, and only had partial use of it after being shot. Most of the chapter is about the death of his son, George. Seems that Ephraim and his son had a dispute, and had gone several years without talking. Ephraim was "grief-stricken" after he received a letter from Sir William Dobbin, announcing that his son had been killed during battle. The only date the book gives is, "About 3 weeks after June 18th." Ephraim's wife went insane for 6 weeks over the ordeal. Ephraim was appointed Captain of the French troops, by the King of England. He took the post under protest.
